Biography:
I was born in Wakefield and, after having moved around the UK, I settled in Burnham. I have lived in the area for 34 years and soon after moving to here I became a councillor as a Lent Rise Ward. Both of my daughters attended Lent Rise School, where I was a governor for over 20 years, and then moved on to secondary schools in Burnham. I have two grandchildren.
I decided to become a parish councillor because I wanted to make a difference in the community, particularly focusing on community sports and outdoor spaces. After a few years I became chair of the Recreation and Amenities committee. Later on my focus shifted slightly to now include working with younger people. From 2016-2020 I served as the chairman of the parish council. My husband was also a councillor and was CIPFA qualified. He also served as chairman of the governors at Lent Rise School until 2015.
Before becoming a parish councillor I volunteered as a clerk at a community centre. This involved organising meetings and collecting reports from various groups that used the centre. I currently volunteer for The Well @ Lent Rise. I am also a member of the Burnham Beeches Rotary Club and a trustee of both the Burnham Youth Centre and a local charity.
I have always been interested in politics, and have been a member of the Conservative party since I was 16 years old.
